"If we were not automata at that moment we would continue lying there, exhausted, and without will. But we are swept forward again, powerless, madly savage and raging; we will kill, for they are still our mortal enemies, their rifles and bombs are aimed against us, and if we don't destroy them, they will destroy us."(115) Some similarities between this quote and the first image under blog#4 is the imagery given by the text and the photo. The photo shows people in the background running towards the people in the foreground which can be inferred as the people in the foreground are being attacked. Another evidence in the photo shows that they are being attacked is the dead guy lying toward the right, which can also be inferred that he was shot down by the soldiers running toward them. Also, the text says that they went past their trenches to attack the enemy and this is exactly what the image is showing. However, a difference between them can be that the image doesn't demonstrate what the soldiers, who are attacking, are thinking. We can see the attacking soldiers being aggressive as they are attacking but in their head, they would hide and turn back if they were not automatons.
Fantastic work Efe! But your blog should be longer, I garantee you extra success if you were to write a longer blog.
ReplyDeleteyup! agreed Leith. Good start Efe ... but need to keep at it and tease out what you are thinking and why? Why are you making those connections -- what EXACTLY in the text and the image/
